A CHAMPION'S FINAL LAP: SHAUN TORRENTE TO RETIRE AFTER 2026
F1H2O

Tuesday, April 28 - Shaun Torrente, the current UIM F1H2O World Champion with four titles to his name, has announced that the 2026 season will be his last as he confirms his retirement from the sport to dedicate himself entirely to his business ventures in Florida, with F1H2O preparing to say goodbye to one of its legends.

The “Alien”, as he has come to be affectionately known for his otherworldly performances, had already flirted with retirement following a dramatic crash in the last race of the 2023 season. Injuries sustained during the crash forced him to miss the subsequent 2024 season; “The impact was devastating and for a time I wasn't sure if I'd ever race again” Torrente said of the incident.

But race again he did, and in spectacular fashion he returned for the 2025 season with Victory Team with one goal in mind: winning a fourth career world championship. Having achieved this feat, Torrente is pushing for a last title, which by bringing him up to a total of five world championships would make him the second most decorated driver of all time, behind only Guido Cappellini and his ten titles.

His mind now firmly made up, Torrente is looking to savour his last dance in the sport, adding: “The 2026 season will be my final lap of honour– one last time to battle with the best; one last time to wear Victory Team colours with pride; and one last time to soak in the incredible atmosphere that is F1H2O.”
